The Altar Guild is co-led by Delores Jackson and Mary Von Goertz. They keep our worship space beautifully decorated with flowers, banners, lit candles, and liturgical colors. They also set up the elements for Communion and healing services. Volunteers to help in this important ministry are always appreciated.
Coffee Fellowship time is held in the lower level immediately after church. Come down for a treat and a beverage, and to connect with friends. Volunteers are always needed to host it by making coffee and bringing morning treats. See the signup sheet gathering area.
Greeters and ushers are needed for worship each week. The ushers hand out bulletins before church, ring the bell at the start of services, receive the offerings, and handle communion traffic. If you are interested, you can sign up on the church Kiosk, contact Melanie McMillion or submit a volunteer form (below).
The lector reads the scripture passages at the appropriate time in worship. Often, ushers do this, but anyone is welcome.
Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 on Sundays during the worship service. Children's Church classes are held for K-3rd graders and Kid's Connect classes are held for 4-6 grade. Volunteers are always welcome to assist (held in the lower level).
The Knife River Current helps keep everyone in touch with what is going on. Contact Linda Grong to submit an article or for more information. Volunteers are needed to help print and fold the mailings. The current, and many past, newsletters are available in the Resources section of this website.
Help is always needed for church functions involving food. This includes celebrations, congregational meetings, picnics, funerals and special events. If you think you can help by providing food, or with setup or clean up please look for the opportunity to sign up on the sheets in the gathering area.
Communion Assistants help the Pastor distribute communion during that portion of the service. If you are interested please contact the Pastor.
Those interested in making sure the Memorial Garden looks its best are needed to adopt a spot in the garden for summer upkeep. Contact Linda Grong if you are interested.
Volunteers are needed each Sunday, especially in summer months, to set up mics, and run the livestreaming software. When the service is held outside, additional assistance setting up chairs before church is appreciated. Contact Scott Shelerud or Phil Berge if you are interested.
At least two offering counters are required every Sunday to secure the offerings and tally up the offering totals for the bank and church records. If you are interested please contact the church Treasurer (Ed Lee).
The church website (krlc.org) needs continual updating to reflect changing events and opportunities. Contact Nancy Dent if you are interested. In addition, the church has a Facebook page that needs administering. Contact Anne-Lu Hovis if you are interested in working with social media.
Volunteers are always welcome to help out at the Lake County Food Shelf.

Ongoing maintenance of the church building and property is looked after by volunteers and, large part, by the men's group who tackle the really tough projects. If you are interested please contact the church Treasurer (Ed Lee).
The Creation Care Team’s goal is to empower our congregation to be part of Lutherans Restoring Creation, an ELCA program that recognizes creation as a gift of God entrusted to our care. As a congregation, we seek to incorporate creation care into our worship life, educational programs, the maintenance of building and grounds, our personal discipleship at home and work, and in our public witness. For more information contact Lawrence Burkhart.
Knife River has a community garden plot that it tends. Food is donated to the Lake County Food Shelf. Contact Anne Jasperson if you are interested in helping out.
Volunteers are needed during Advent to staff the Salvation Army Red Kettle at Super One in Two Harbors.
