We honor the memory of our longtime members and friends, Maureen “Mitzi” and DeWayne Rubedor. They were responsible for the tailgate parties at the Duke’s games, preparing meats for church potlucks and summer picnics and donated the grill used for the community picnics we all enjoy each summer! They were such supporters of their KRLC family, recognized the importance of building community through these events and were dearly loved. Join in as we honor this couple and their legacy gifts to their church family.
We mourn the passing of our church matriarch: Audrey Carlson. Audrey was, in many ways, the heart of Knife River Lutheran Church. She will be sorely missed by all of us. Audrey was born in 1924, four years before KRLC was incorporated. She grew up in the church and knew its entire history and almost everyone in it. She served as church Secretary for many years and for over half a century she kept church records, minutes, reports and information organized so that we could appreciate and profit by knowing the vision, insight and hard work of those who preceded us.
We will miss her leadership, her insight, her warm and loving personality and the many volunteer hours she put into projects of all kinds over the years. Her life was a blessing to us all, to her family and to the community she loved.
We are saddened by the recent passing of Paul Struve, a big-hearted, strong and kind man who many of us came to know and love. He was a stalwart of KRLC, active in the men's group and on many church projects and events. Paul served in the US Army Military Police from 1965-1967. He worked for 20 years as a painter at the University of Minnesota and took on many other jobs, painting homes and bridges. He and Kay enjoyed traveling the US and Europe where he loved visiting historic sites. Paul was also a gifted and creative designer. He created replicas of various fishing boats and lighthouses. His real passion however was tractors. He enjoyed restoring them and working with his tractor club friends. Paul will always be known as a kind, loving man. We are grateful to have known him. He was inurned in the KRLC Columbarium.
The Columbarium is located above the Memorial Garden and serves as a place for the cremains of family members, community members and loved ones to be put, honoring their memory and the hope of the resurrection. Contact the church office if you are considering this option. Columbarium niches are available for the inurnment of cremains. Each Niche includes a stone faceplate with a suitable inscription. Memorial Plaques are also available if you wish to remember someone but do not need a niche.
For information on how to make arrangements for a niche or memorial plaque check out the documents below or contact us using the form at the bottom of this page. Memorial wall plaques are currently priced at $350.
Cavalin Funeral Home in Two Harbors is a partner of the Knife River Lutheran Church Columbarium. Information on the KRLC Columbarium is also available through them. They can help with all aspects of the process. Time of inurnment must be coordinated with them and the KRLC Pastor.
