In January, Pastor Susan announced her impending retirement.

The Synod will appoint someone to see us through the process of installing an Interim Pastor and then beginning the search for a new Pastor.
2024 Vibrant Ministry
Celebrated the 100th birthday of our church matriarch Audrey Carlson.
Pastor Susan took a one-month sabbatical while various members filled in to continue our ministry.
New choir JOYFUL started under the direction of Patti Stoddard, an accomplished musical teacher.
Lenten study was held weekly by Randi Alreck.
Held 5 holy baptisms and received 12 new members.
KRLC won the Holy Cow award once again, in recognition of our giving per confirmed member to ELCA World Hunger.
VBS was held in June, led by Jillian McCorison.
Worship services were held outdoors during summer months, with many attendees while enjoying the beauty of God’s creation.
Worship services were very joyful with many musical groups including bluegrass, gospel, dulcimers, choirs, bells and stings.
Patio was upgraded to remove old tiles that were degrading, making it safer and more accessible.
Upgraded audio-visual equipment under direction of our Tech Team.
Children’s church and Kid’s Connect were held during non-summer months.
Confirmation was held with five students in the first half the year and three student in the fall. Three students were confirmed.

Community picnics continued monthly throughout the summer and indoors periodically in the winter months.
Live nativity event was moved to the location at the hill and JOYFUL choir accompanied Tim Anderson’s reading of the nativity story. This year with live camels!
Fall Fun Fest was successful with all profits going to ELCA World Hunger.
2023 Blessed to be a Blessing
Bjorn Ojard stepped down as Council President after serving for 6 years. Thank you, Bjorn, for all the time and effort you put in during your term. He got a lot accomplished during his term and guided us excellently during the very challenging Covid-19 pandemic.
Helene Hedlund was elected to serve as Council President.
Hannah Weishaar was hired as our custodian.
KRLC won the Holy Cow award for world hunger within our Synod.
Our Mountain dulcimer group started up with 8 participants. Sticks and Strings and Seraphim started up again.
Summer picnics were well attended and much enjoyed with lots of good energy, including a few indoor picnics during colder months. Music jam sessions were held after picnics.
The Council established a building/kitchen use policy and a sexual misconduct policy, worked on by-law updates, and started meeting bi-monthly rather than quarterly.
KRLC received six new members.
Dani Mattson was hired to do "Children's Time" over the summer.
Sound tiles were installed in the lower level, helping reduce noise levels significantly.
First aid/CPR training was held and well attended.
VBS was held monthly on the evening of the monthly picnics.
Started up Children's Church, Kid's Connect and confirmation, with two young folks completing confirmation.
Fall Fun Fest was held in September, raising money for ELCA World Hunger. Our Scandinavian Meatball dinner was served in October with proceeds split equally between CHUM, Churches United in Ministry and LSS, Lutheran Social Services.
2022 Getting our Mojo Back
Covid-19 moved from pandemic into endemic, allowing our church family to be together more and returning to past activities. Our Sunday in-person worship averaged 22 people in January and 61 people in December!
Over the year we were slowly able to start back up with coffee fellowship, remove our masks, return to musical activities and children's education programming. A welcome and stunning return to a new normal!
We continued virtual meetings such as Lectio Divina and W/ELCA until spring when we started back in person.
KRLC won the LSS Servant of Christ award for all of our social outreach efforts.
Summer worship services were held outdoors in our garden and were very well attended. Our Tech team worked through new challenges with outdoor streaming.
Church picnics were held monthly during the summer, providing a great opportunity to connect with others in the community.
Two young women were confirmed and 11 new members were received.
Scandinavian meatball dinner was served in the fall.
Lenten study was held both in person and virtually.
We initiated a group to evaluate the future of our memorial garden and other landscaping issues.
Food safety classes were offered and well attended.
Randi and Lawrence were married and Carol Carlson returned as our primary church musician.
We utilized a custodial service for most of the year, but that was discontinued in the fall and volunteers stepped up while we considered options.
Sam Black stepped down as our bell choir director. The bell choir continued as self-directed and LeeAnn Olson started a group of new ringers.
2021 Resilience During Unique Year
Continued with Covid protocols that eliminated all in-person gatherings at the start of the year and providing pre-recorded worship services through April 4th. We resumed in-building services April 11th and added live-streaming of the services for those who selected to stay home. However, singing was non-existent or limited and there was no fellowship time after services to limit time the spread of the disease.
The ability of groups to meet and interact varied with the current state of the viral spread.
Summer services were mostly held outdoors and it was a real blessing to meet in-person while allowing distancing. The Tech Team figured out a way to live-stream outdoors!
The annual meeting was held virtually thanks to the modern technology and our Tech Team.
SMART team continued meeting, guiding us us on precautions for in-person services and event, and shepherding us as we look toward getting back to a more normal life.
Sunday school started back up for our youth and confirmation classes began in the fall.
Paid off the kitchen financing years ahead of schedule.
Received a government grant to assist with payroll expenses through the pandemic.
Received five new members and confirmed one person.
Had a Fall Fun Fest in September.
Sharon Shelerud resigned as custodian and a search was started to fill the position.
