This March, we join food shelves, faith communities, businesses, and organizations across Minnesota in acting to end hunger and food insecurity. Monetary donations are always welcome. For every $1 given 2.5 meals can be provided.
We encourage all members to bring their loose change or monetary hunger offerings to church and each Sunday place them in a Lenten Love Box we will set up in the Gathering Area. Remembering the hungry is a traditional and important act of charity during the Lenten season!
Pastor Susan will be retiring as of June 1, 2025. See her letter to the congregation (below) for more details. Join everyone right after worship on Sunday May 25th for a time of remembrance, rejoicing and renewal as we celebrate Pastor Susan's retirement. There will be a program followed by a luncheon.
during the final song at Pastor Susan’s retirement program on May 25! If you are a former choir member, a new choir member, someone who likes to sing, someone who can’t commit to rehearsals every week but would love to be in the choir for this . . . we would love to have you sing with us! The piece is “Go In The Grace of The Lord”. It is not hard, but it is beautiful! JOYFUL choir director Patti Stoddard is on board with this and we’ll get more information out to you in the coming weeks. Please consider joining us in this last musical tribute to Pastor Susan. Dear Friends in Christ,
I am writing to let you know of my decision to retire from active ordained ministry as of June 1, 2025. Serving in this congregation has been the highlight of my nearly 39 years of ministry, and I am so profoundly grateful for what we have done together, guided by God’s Spirit, to bless our neighbors and glorify our Lord. The Knife River congregation is a vibrant and warm congregation that has effectively lived out the Gospel for so many decades and will continue to do so into the future! It has been a joy to serve among you! There is certainly sadness in this transition for me, but also I look forward to a new chapter in my life. Likewise, while there may be sadness in the congregation at this change, there will also be exciting opportunities for visioning and moving forward in the most impactful ways possible. Rest assured that our Northeastern Minnesota Synod will guide the congregation through every step of this journey, and that God is in the mix to bring about blessings.
Respectfully and with love,
Pastor Susan Berge
